Experience

  • 2012 to present – Founder and Executive Director – Science Camps of America, Inc.
    Started Science Camps of America, a non-profit Hawaii corporation with the mission to provide experiential education opportunities for teens. Responsible for all aspects of the business startup, filing of the application for 501(c)3 status, finding a camp location, hiring and staff training, developing camp and school programs, web-site development, fund-raising and marketing including social media advertising and promotion.

  • 1983-2011 – Founder and President – HI-Tech Smart Systems, Inc.
    Started HI-Tech Smart Systems in Honolulu in 1983 for the purpose of developing software applications for specialty property management businesses. Was responsible for development of software applications, marketing, customer service, personnel development and management and business development. Oversaw personnel in offices in multiple locations in Hawaii, Mainland U.S. and Australia. Partnered with companies in Europe and Asia to sell and support software products. Frequent speaker at industry events. Negotiated sale of business in 2010. Consulted for new owners for next 12 months.

  • 1987-2008 – Director, Secretary/Treasurer – Kaimuki Self Storage
    Responsible for the financial and personnel management from startup to sale of the business, providing local management for off-island owners.

  • 1981-1985 – Founder and President – EZ-Leasing, Inc.
    Started a light-truck rental company in Honolulu, Hawaii to serve small businesses and individuals looking for short-term rentals. Responsible for business development, purchase and maintenance of vehicles, insurance matters, and personnel.

  • 1980-1998 – Director, Vice-president – EZ-Access Storage Systems, Inc.
    Responsible for financial management and customer service, developed reports for the Board of Directors, oversaw the development of custom application software, assisted with hiring and supervision of personnel.

    • Participated in disaster response with the Hawaiʻi DMAT team, including setting up and providing logistical support for emergency medical facilities in response to natural or man-made disasters. Participated in hurricane preparedness by providing logistical support for hospitals and other medical facilities to remain operational.
